Sorting rules
In order for plastic from agriculture, gardening and industry to be recycled in an efficient and environmentally friendly way, it needs to be sorted correctly from the start. Here you will find clear instructions on how to handle, clean and return different types of plastic. By following these rules, you ensure that the material can be recycled in the best way and that the collection works smoothly for everyone.
Good to know
Start sorting immediately when the bag or can is emptied, or when the bale is opened. Please set aside a place under cover to keep the plastic dry. The plastic should be sorted so that it can be recycled in the best possible way — keep it as clean and dry as possible.
- White and transparent plastic is sorted into the white fraction.
- Other colors or plastic with prints are sorted into the colored fraction.
- If different colors cannot be separated, the plastic should be placed in the colored fraction.
- The plastic should be crystal clear (free from loose material and liquid).
- Mixing different plastic categories or materials in the same bale is not permitted.
The plastic is sorted into eight categories:
- Silage stretch film / Sheath film (PE-LLD)
- Round bale netting / Bird netting
- Plastic yarn
- Plastic film (PE-LD) – Flat silo film, Silage hose, Cultivation film, Packaging plastic, Covering net
- Fiber cloth
- Large sacks
- Plastic sleeves / Bobbins
- Cans
From 1 January 2025, all big bags must be tied together in bundles. Please note that the bags must not be placed inside each other. The rules are in place to facilitate handling and improve recycling.
Svepretur will continue to provide a financial contribution to agricultural companies that purchase a compactor in 2026. The market support only applies to the purchase of a new compactor.

Sorting rules
Silage stretch film / Sheath film (PE-LLD)
White silage stretch film and white bale wrap (including white film made from recycled plastic), as well as transparent film, must be sorted into the white fraction. Products containing recycled plastic can be recycled in the same way as plastic made from virgin material. Other colors may be mixed in a colored fraction.
If silage stretch film/bale wrap with different colors integrated into one application cannot be separated, it should be sorted into the colored fraction. The plastic must be shaken clean and be as dry and clean as possible.
Silage stretch film and bale wrap may be delivered loose or in small bales but must not be packed in bulk bags.
When delivered in small bales, they must be placed separately at the collection site. Please contact the staff at the collection site.
Telescopic stretch film rolls (PE-LLD) may be returned at regular collection sites. Please contact the staff at the collection site.
Round bale netting / Bird netting
The nets must be packed in a bulk bag, which should then be securely tied.
If you do not have bulk bags, please ask for them at the collection site.
Plastic yarn
Only polypropylene twine is accepted and must be packed in a bulk bag, which should then be securely tied.
If you do not have bulk bags, please ask for them at the collection site.
Plastic foils (PE-LD)
This fraction includes:
Flat silo foil
Silage hose
Cultivation foil
Packaging plastic
Cover net
Flat silo foil and silage hose
Should be delivered loose.
Combi foil is not accepted.
The plastic must be squeaky clean and as dry and clean as possible.
Cultivation foil
Used foil should be rolled or folded before delivery.
Loose or very dirty growing foil will not be accepted.
Degradable growing foil will not be accepted as it cannot be recycled.
In order to drop off growing foil, a document proving that the recycling fee has been paid must be presented.
Packaging plastic
Small bags and pallet covers from fertilizers and seed (15–25 kg) are included in SvepRetur’s collection system, as well as pallet covers and 25 kg salt bags from Lantmännen. No other bags or pallet covers are accepted. Roll packaging and pallet stretch film supplied together with plastic products included in the system are also accepted.
Cover net
After being shaken clean, it should be rolled up without a sleeve/bobbin or folded into a well-cohesive package.
Fiber cloth
Crop cover fabric (nonwoven fabric) must be rolled up without a core/tube. The loose end should be folded in under the previous layers. The fabric may also be folded into a tightly secured “package.”
Important!
The fabric must be protected from moisture during storage, for example by covering it with a tarpaulin.
Loose fabric will not be accepted.
To return crop cover fabric, documentation proving that the recycling fee has been paid must be presented.
Large sacks
Bulk bags for fertilizers, seed, mineral feed, and animal feed, with or without inner liners, are included in SvepRetur’s collection system.
Lantmännen’s bulk bags for salt are also included.
No other bags are accepted.
The bags must be tied together in bundles using coarse string. Note: They must not be placed inside one another.
No other plastic or materials may be placed inside the empty bags.
Plastic sleeves / Bobbins
Plastic and cardboard cores from silage stretch film, bale wrap, and netting must be packed in the outer bulk bag and securely tied.
Important!
Plastic cores and cardboard cores must be placed in separate bulk bags.
Cans
To facilitate handling, 8–10 containers must be tied together with coarse string or packed in the outer bulk bag and securely tied.
Packaging for fertilizers, crop protection products, and silage additives is sent for energy recovery, i.e. incineration.
Packaging that has contained water-soluble products must be thoroughly cleaned, drip-dry, and have the cap removed. The caps must be packed in a bulk bag and securely tied.
IBC containers for crop protection products must be thoroughly cleaned.
Containers with Easy Connect caps (or equivalent closed transfer systems) may retain the cap, provided that the intended filling and cleaning equipment has been used.
Containers, bottles, and IBCs from detergents, oil, AdBlue, etc. are not included in the system and will therefore not be accepted.
Cleaning instructions
Clean packaging that has contained water-soluble products such as fertilizers, crop protection products, and silage additives as follows:
- Fill the container to approximately one-fifth (1/5) with water and replace the cap.
- Shake the container so that the rinse water reaches all internal surfaces. Rinse water from containers that have held water-soluble products must be handled in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Packaging for crop protection products must be cleaned immediately after emptying, and the rinse liquid should be poured directly into the sprayer.
- Repeat the rinsing procedure at least three times with water. Allow the container to drain upside down until it is drip-dry.
If the supplier provides specific instructions, these must be followed.
Why packaging must be cleaned
To ensure that empty packaging is not classified as hazardous waste and can therefore be sent for energy recovery.
To reduce the risk of harm to people and the environment, and to ensure that the entire contents are put to proper use.
